Another President I see on the "worst" lists they do all the time. Johnson took over after Lincoln was assassinated, and played a big part in reconstruction. 

After the death of Lincoln, many people were hoping for harsher punishments for the South. Johnson initially had a harsh stance against rebels, but the more he was in power the more he got soft. He pardoned many people, and wasn't that bad. A move I thank him for. 

One of the worst parts about Johnson though was his influence of many of his governments having unofficial "black codes" which gave freedmen second-class status. He even vetoed a civil rights bill, since he believe it was a white country for white men. Fucking racist. 

One of the most important things during his reign was the purchase of Alaska from the Russian Empire. Not to mention it later prevented more land for the future Soviet Union (so close to home too) that it later gave the state and the country a lot of oil money. It was also a steal for the price of the land too. 

Andrew Johnson was the first person who was attempted to be impeached. Many people on both sides of the parties, and the country did not like him. So they rounded up a bunch of little complaints, and tried  to get rid of him twice. 

I don't think he should have been impeached if they had declared him guilty. He was a shitty president, but I don't think he really violated any major rule.
