3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2011
As always, function and form were two words that described this collection by Lim. His "loose" inspiration for the designs was the British writer and cartographer, Dame Freya Stark. Stark wrote of different cultures and their local histories and everyday life and visited places in the Middle East and in remote areas of Turkey.
(Freya Stark relaxing)
Lim also went on to create a cotton woven with abaca (a fiborous plant native to the Phillipines) that creates a sturdy look in his garments this season, mélange sweatshirts (some came with embellished necklines) and coats with straps inserted at the armhole (in case you want to sling it over your arm instead of carrying- this would have to be my favorite part about the collection...I love new things!). I found the collection intriguing although I felt like I was searching for a bit more wow factor as opposed to I just like these few pieces. Take a look at some of the pictures ( I varied them up) and tell me what you think of this collection!
Long sailor collar on this navy dress with rabbit fur vest (in hand). Simple elegance
This is my favorite look from the collection. A very long double-breasted vested, pants that look a little more formal than sweatpants, a long sleeve t-shirt with sheer sleeves, and also rabbit fur vest (in hand). Very androgynous.
A soft pallet of colors made these wrap front trousers (flaps can hang at side for a more undone look), cardigan, and t-shirt a simple and soft look.
Love this peacoat. Underneath are shorts with a little ruffle and a white button-down shirt
Fashionistas, do you like this collection and do you like Phillip Lim in general as a designer?
