My very good friend, Jay of ComicBookAndMovieReviews.com shared to me this MTV's list(Originally exempt from 15 Movie Soundtracks Better Than The Movies They're For) of movie soundtracks that is better than the movies they represents. This seems a very good list to add on our collection.

MTV's Clutch Staff quoted " Soundtracks are an overlooked yet important factor in the movie-watching experience. Far more interesting, though, is when a solid soundtrack is paired with a steaming pile. When this happens, the music becomes one of two things: a show-stealer, outshining the very movie it's featured in; or a trickster, fooling people into believing the movie is a classic."

So here's 10 of the Best Movie Soundtracks Better than the films they represent.

1 - Garden State, 2004

Category: trickster

The breakthrough indie songs from the likes of The Shins, Frou Frou and Thievery Corporation were good enough to distract viewers from the fact that the film was a gloppy intravenous drip of sad giggles and unabashed Natalie Portman idolatry. Zack Braff: curator of indie, purveyor of twee, voice of toilet paper-using puppy.

2 - The Twilight Saga, 2008-2012

Category: show-stealer

The trilogy's track list boasts a roster of heavyweights--Muse, Thom Yorke and Vampire Weekend--and reads like a fantasy music draft between the editor of Pitchfork and the founder of Emo Weekly. The film itself appeals only to the latter.

3 - Boiler Room, 2000

Category: show-stealer

The film's high-rolling hustlers are set to the sounds of raw hip-hop from some of New York's best MC's: Biggie, Rakim, De La Soul and a still-underground 50 Cent. Clearly an attempt to draw a profound parallel between Wall Street and rap's paper-chasers, the juxtaposition only served to make the Wall Street meatheads playing with Monopoly money seem even more outlandish.

4 - Vanilla Sky, 2001

Category: trickster

This movie is always in the HBO cycle because of Tom Cruise's particularly Tom Cruise-y performance, the Penelope Cruz nip shots, and the incredibly eclectic soundtrack featuring classics from Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel, as well as somber cuts from Radiohead and R.E.M. Fortunately, this all diverts your attention from the nonsensical plot (I mean, really, why would you set your splice point for AFTER the disfiguring car wreck?). Although, maybe that's why it's nonsensical in the first place.

5 - Hot Rod, 2007

Category: show-stealer

When a movie is utterly dumb, it can be painful. But when music is utterly dumb, it can be a blast (see: Ke$ha). This dumb comedy celebrates some of the best dumb, montage-ready songs of the '80s, including forgotten gems like "Two Of Hearts" and "You're The Voice," plus four Europe songs. Is it absurd to include four Europe songs? Of course. Which is exactly why it works.

6 - Above The Rim, 1994

Category: show-stealer

One of a multitude of forgettable sports flicks, except it has arguably the best hip-hop soundtrack of all time: Dr. Dre in the studio, 2Pac's first go-round with Death Row, Snoop Dogg and, oh, maybe you've heard of a little ditty called "Regulate." If aliens wanted to know what West Coast rap sounded like in the early '90s (these aliens are incredibly curious about incredibly specific topics), you'd hand them this album.

7 - Good Will Hunting, 1997

Category: trickster

Now that we're well past the 10-year statute of limitations, can we all finally admit this movie was an overrated fluke? No? Well, let's at least agree that the aching Elliott Smith-centric soundtrack still holds up. The album also contains Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street," which is the melted Velveeta of songs: unnaturally smooth and cheesy, but undeniably appealing.

8 - Idlewild, 2006

Category: show-stealer

You know what they say: A bloated album from Outkast is better than a fine-tuned effort from anyone else. Highlights include "Mighty O," "N2U," "Morris Brown" and "Call The Law" featuring Janelle Monae. Andre 3000 and Big Boi can do no wrong (cinematic endeavors notwithstanding).

9 - 21, 2008

Category: show-stealer

A murderer's row of late-aughts hit-makers: Rihanna, LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, Mark Ronson, Peter Bjorn and John. We'll just pretend that remix of The Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want" didn't happen (which is also what Kevin Spacey does with this movie).

10 - RocknRolla, 2008

Category: show-stealer

All of Guy Ritchie's crime capers are injected with a rollicking mix of songs. But this is the first collection to surpass the film, thanks to stompers from The Hives, The Clash, Wanda Jackson and a few gritty blues covers.

Suggestion: Regardless of the category, be sure to erase this on your Netflix queue files and go straight to iTunes instead.

We Filipinos have a unique kind of music. We call it “OPM(Original Pinoy Music)” which not only makes some foreign people sing but also encourage them to create their own songs.

Recently, I was surfing videos to watch on Youtube when I stumble to this guy's channel(David Dimuzio) and already got my bid to be his fan. The funny part is that he plays and sing my favourite Filipino songs with pride though he is not a Filipino. He embraced my music and culture - which makes him more amazing.

Here's more about David Dimuzio:

Astrological Sign: Aquarius
Industry: Arts
Occupation: Singer/Songwriter, World Champion Juggler, and Keynote Speaker.

About

David Dimuzio

"I wrote my first real song when I was 11 years old because I had a huge crush on a girl at camp. My heroes growing up where my favorite musicians, and that seemed to be what they did. I sang her the song after we attended the "summer camp dance" then timidly asked if I could kiss her, she said yes, and then we kissed each other on the cheek, and I realized I was on to something. I play guitar on my own recordings, write all of my own lyrics, and arrange all of my own music. "

Boyce Avenue is an American acoustic rock band. It was formed in Sarasota, Florida by brothers Alejandro, Daniel and Fabian Manzano. The band is named after a combination of two streets the brothers lived on as children. They are signed to Universal Republic.

Alejandro Manzano (Vocals, Guitar, Piano)
Fabian Manzano (Guitar, Backing Vocals)
Daniel Manzano (Bass, Percussion, Backing Vocals)

The band formed in 2004 when Daniel moved back to Florida after graduating Harvard Law School. Alejandro and Fabian were both attending classes at the University of Florida.
In 2006 Boyce Avenue began posting videos on YouTube, both of original material and cover versions. Some of these covers have reached up to 11,000,000 views. These covers have been released in EPs digitally via their independent record label, 3 Peace Records. While producing the videos for YouTube, Boyce Avenue was continuing to create original material for a debut album, All You're Meant To Be, for release on March 3, 2008. In January 2009 the band performed a stand-alone show in New York City.

With their sights set on connecting with their online fan base, the band turned their attention to touring, playing four headlining shows in the Philippines. Shortly following this, the band returned to the States to begin its first tour of the US.
Following these tours, the band launched a tour of Europe, including dates in Germany, Ireland and the UK. In early 2010, the band returned to the Philippines to play festivals with Kris Allen and the Jabbawockeez. This was followed by a spring revisit tour of Europe in 2010.
They are currently the most searched for band on Youtube with over 300 million views and counting, and are known for their distinct cover songs. The band frequently tours to the Philippines and the U.K.

Most recently the band signed with Universal Republic and has a second album, entitled All We Have Left, released on June 15, 2010. The album was produced and financed entirely by Boyce Avenue prior to being signed to Universal Republic. The album contains reworked songs from “All You're Meant To Be” and brand new songs written for the album. The albums first single “Every Breath” was released digitally on March 16, 2010. The music video for Every Breath was released on March 20, 2010.

They cover new popular songs which their fans have chosen for them, including multiple collaborations with other Youtube artists such as Kina Grannis, Alex Goot, Megan & Liz, David Choi, Savannah Outen, and DeStorm.

It has been over 2 years since Chris Brown’s brand took a hit during the famous domestic violence incident against R & B singer Rhianna. Brown is back with the release of his follow up to Graffiti, entitled F.A.M.E. which is an acronym for “Forgiving All My Enemies”. A second meaning was added which was “Fans Are My Everything”, which is more appropriate. While promoting the album his brand once again took a snag when he broke a window at the Good Morning America studios, after becoming frustrated that Robin Roberts brought up his domestic case. Brown busted a window, and completed an impersonation of Hulk Hogan by tearing off his shirt. Then proceeded to walk through the streets of midtown Manhattan showing off his tats.
The adverse publicity took away from the main focus which should be this album which is unfortunate. The first thing about the CD that captured my attention was the beautiful artwork by Ron English. He also completed portraits of President Barack Obama and other well known figures. The album has 13 tracks, if you purchase the bonus you will receive 17. “Deuces”, which was in everyone’s rotation all of last year, and hit #1 on the Billboard charts kicks things off. “Next 2 U” featuring Justin Bieber appears to target the teeny booper audience, which he should leave behind. This track should have been omitted off the album; Bieber appears out of place on this one as well. Brown reaches for a more mature audience with the sexually charged “Wet The Bed” featuring Ludacris and the down right freakishness of “NO BS” featuring Kevin McCall. There is a mixture of teen songs with a more mature theme which gives it more variety, but it makes you wonder which audience is he now targeting.
Brown also rounds out some strong ballads in “Up To You”, which touches on a potential relationship. He learned from his past mistakes, and now will like for her to take the lead. This track is one of my favorites, and I would not be a surprise if he releases this as a single. “Shouldn’t Have Kiss You” touches on his feelings for a friend but he did not have the courage to tell her but will do so when he gets another opportunity. “Yeah 3x” an uptempo dance track is also a admirable one back by sumptuous production which is club and radio-friendly. “She Ain’t You” is another fun track which gives me the impression that its main focus was seeking a radio-friendly hit, I believe he accomplished just that. My issue with this track is that I’m over the use of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” which should stop being recycled. Brown even tries his hand at rapping on “Look At Me Now” which is cute, but let’s be honest here he cant compete with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, but he gets an E for effort.
This album is expected to go #1 with over 250, 000 sold the first week, which should not come as a surprise to anyone. This young man has talent; there is no disputing that. Brown must do one more thing his next go around, keep his fan based focus on his music, and not his temper tantrums, then he will be well on his way in repairing his fragile image. F.A.M.E. is a solid album with a few misses but the Breezy fan base will enjoy it due to the variety of  ballads and dance tracks. The goal should have been that he wanted to make an album that was better than the rushed Graffiti. I guess you can say mission accomplished! Do not expect Brown to release a classic album with powerful vocals; he is not that type of artist. Brown will entertain you nevertheless, and that is all you can ask for.

According to popmatters.com, here's the Top 10 best songs of all time. Check it out if yours is on the list.

10 - Ray Charles “Cryin’ Time”

Another vintage 1960s song that gave people something to slow-dance to, as Charles’ wistful voice transformed the mournful tune into a crossover hit.

9 - Roger Miller “King of the Road”

A quirky, laid-back singalong song that was novel enough in the `60s to draw rock-crazed crowds back into country music. Miller was the perfect foil for the British popsters of the day.

8 - Johnny Cash “Orange Blossom Special”

Of the many versions of this fiddler’s classic, anyone can sing along with Johnny Cash’s cover of THE best train song ever.

7 - Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys “Faded Love”

If the twin fiddles of this Texas dancehall favorite don’t get you, move somewhere else. Quickly.

6 - Hank Williams Sr. “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry”

He had bigger hits, but Williams’ elemental ode to sadness has been covered by dozens of artists and taken to heart by millions of fans.

5 - Willie Nelson “Whiskey River”

How many concerts have you attended that started with TWANG, TWANG, TWANG, TWANG, then these two words? We thought so.

4 - George Jones “He Stopped Loving Her Today”

Death, unrequited love, third-party gossip, it’s all here—along with Jones’ hangdog baritone.

3 - Merle Haggard “Mama Tried”

Haggard was still a handsome rebel himself when this tale of misspent youth made us all a little restless.

2 - Patsy Cline “Sweet Dreams”

The gold standard of songs for Cline wannabes—it takes pluck to attempt her triumph of vocal range and emotion.

1 - Johnny Cash “Ring of Fire”

The horns, the tempo, Cash’s smoldering voice and June Carter’s dead-on songwriting remain as exciting now as in the 1960s.

Here’s a top10 list enumerating Charice’s career milestones, which readers may be interested in, but may not be aware of.

You just can’t keep a good talent down. Years before her successful debut on the second season of the US hit TV musical series “Glee”, singing sensation Charice was already wowing crowds and silencing critics who could not believe that a little girl could have such a big voice.

As Charice opens a new chapter in her life as a cast member of “Glee”, abs-cbnNEWS.com takes a look back at some of the defining moments in Charice’s career. The top 10 defining moments in Charice’s career:

1 - ‘Little Big Star’ Philippines (First Local Recognition)

It was in 2005 when Filipinos first heard the name Charice Pempengco when she joined ABS-CBN’s singing contest “Little Big Star.” Charice was eliminated after her first performance but was later called back as a wild card contestant. In the grand finals, she landed third behind Gian Barbarona and champ Sam Concepcion.
2 - ‘Star King’ South Korea (First International Recognition)

Two years after making her mark on “Little Big Star”, Charice got a boost of sorts through an unexpected source. Dave Dueñas or Falsevoice decided to upload videos of some of Charice’s performances on YouTube. The videos received over 13 million hits, making her a YouTube singing sensation.
All that Web buzz caught the attention of the people behind the Korean talent show “Star King”. They then invited her to perform live on their show. Charice performed the “Dreamgirls” hit song “And I’m Telling You” on “Star King”, wowing the audience that included Korean boy band Super Junior.
3 - Ellen Degeneres Warner Bros. (First appearance on US TV)

Almost two months after her “Star King” guesting, popular US TV host Ellen Degeneres extended an on-air invitation to Charice to come to sing in her show after seeing her YouTube videos.
In December 2007, Charice flew to the US with her mother, Racquel Pempengco, and performed Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and the “Dreamgirls’” hit “And I’m Telling You” in front of an appreciative studio audience. Charice got an iPod from Ellen and something bigger, her first taste of fame before a US audience.
4 - Oprah Winfrey Show (The Real Life Fairy-Godmother)

After appearing on Degeneres’s show, Charice was invited by entertainment icon Oprah Winfrey to perform on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” for its May 12, 2008 episode titled “World’s Smartest Kids.”
In the episode, Charice wowed Winfrey and the audience by performing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” After that episode, Winfrey contacted her good friend, international musician-producer David Foster, to see if he could help Charice get started on a recording career.
Charice’s first meeting with Winfrey cemented her claim to fame especially after the latter dubbed her as “the most talented girl in the world.”
In June 2010, Winfrey became the real life godmother of Charice when the teener was baptized as a Catholic.
5 - David Foster Las Vegas (The Mentor)

Charice joined the benefit concert “Hitman: David Foster and Friends” at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on May 23, 2008. If not for Foster, Charice would not have had the chance to meet international artists like Andrea Boccelli and Josh Groban.
In a previous interview, Charice said she considers Foster as her second father.
6 - Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli Italy (The Concerts)

World-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli invited Charice to his hometown in Tuscany, Italy to perform. Charice dazzled thousands of Italians during the birthday concert of Bocelli at the Theater of Silence of Lajatico in Tuscany on July 20, 2008.
Charice also earned praise from international star Josh Groban. Groban said Charice has one of the most beautiful voices he has ever heard. Charice and Groban are regular performers or “David Foster and Friends” shows since they met on Foster’s May 23, 2008 concert.
7 - Celine Dion New York (The Remarkable Duet)

Charice’s second guesting on Oprah’s show was especially memorable. In that episode, Charice wept after her idol, Celine Dion, personally invited her to be part of her concert in New York.
On September 15, 2009, Charice performed with Dion at the latter’s concert in Madison Square Garden. People praised Dion for letting Charice shine as they performed Dion’s No. 1 single “Because You Loved Me.” Charice’s performance drew raves from some New York dailies.
8 - ‘The Paul O’Grady Show’ (UK) and ‘Good Morning America’ (US) (TV Appearances)

Charice boosted her international career when she appeared on various international TV programs like UK’s hit TV show “The Paul O’Grady Show” on April 8, 2008. For the first time in the history of the show, the audience gave a standing ovation to a visiting singer. “The Paul O’Grady Show” is a daily one-hour show broadcast every afternoon in the United Kingdom to showcase world-class talents and world record breakers.
In November 2008, Charice performed on America’s top-rating morning show “Good Morning America.” She appeared on the show to promote David Foster’s new CD-DVD “Hitman: David Foster & Friends.” Charice is one of several performers featured in the album, along with music icons Kenny G, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight, Katharine McPhee, Andrea Bocelli and Dion.
9 - ‘Alvin and The Chipmunks’ 20th Century Fox (First International Cameo Role)

Hollywood comes a calling. Charice played a bit role in “Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel,” adding the film role to her list of accomplishments.
In the movie, Charice plays one of the chipmunks’ rivals in a talent competition. The songstress sang Alicia Keys’ “No One” in the film distributed by 20th Century Fox.
In a previous interview, Charice said the casting crew was impressed by her ability to modulate her voice to mimic that of a chipmunk. Reports also said that the director saw her performance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and was blown away by her voice.
10 - ‘Note to God’ (Launch at Oprah), ‘Pyramid’ (The Hits)

Charice proved she’s not just good at singing other people’s songs. Her first international single “Note To God”, written by Dianne Warren and produced by Foster, debuted on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in May 2009.
On May 11, 2010, a day after turning 18, she promoted the album’s second single “Pyramid” also on the same show.

Let's see what's in store for Hip Hop beauties with the help from Thomas Foley (Askmen.com Contributor).
Hip-hop honeys, dime pieces, video vixens. We’re referring to the girls who provide the “bootylicious” eye candy in hip-hop and R&B music videos. There are a special few hip-hop honeys who form an elite group of women who have made careers out of appearing in these videos. Most of them hope to jump-start acting or modeling careers, and every so often one of them goes on to make a name for herself for something other than shaking it on camera.

Here are 10 of the hottest and most successful hip-hop honeys to shake their rumps on the small screen.

Numbe10 - Maliah Michele

According to several websites, Maliah Michele started out as an exotic dancer, but moved into the music video biz after being discovered by director Erik White. This hip-hop honey has appeared in videos for Lloyd Banks, T.I., Busta Rhymes, and The Game.
9 - Esther Baxter

Esther Baxter first turned heads as one of the hip-hop honeys in Petey Pablo’s "Freek-a-Leak" video (and is often referred to as Miss Freek-a-Leak). She’s also appeared in videos for Ludacris, Will Smith, Ghostface Killah, Kanye West, and Ja Rule. Even though she claims to be retired from the music video game at only 23 years old, we can probably expect to see more of her again soon.
8 - Karrine Steffans

Known throughout the rap community as Superhead (and apparently for good reason), Karrine Steffans was a music video mainstay before writing two best-selling books about her life as a hip-hop honey, which included details of her romps with a number of high-profile celebrities and entertainers including Shaquille O’Neal, Jay-Z, Nas, Xzibit, Kool G Rap (with whom she has a child), Method Man, Ja Rule, Vin Diesel, Busta Rhymes, Allen Iverson, and -- um -- political satirist Bill Maher.
7 - Tomika Skanes

This smokin’ hot Blasian has appeared in videos by Outkast, Ludacris and Ginuwine, and is also well-known for her slick spreads in Black Men, SSX, KING, XXL, and Smooth magazines. To hip-hop lovers, Tomika Skane is instantly recognizable as the hot mama who appeared on the album cover of OutKast’s Stankonia.
6 - Gloria Velez

This gorgeous video vixen of Puerto Rican descent started off as one of *NSYNC’s tour dancers and quickly became a mainstay in videos as a hip-hop honey, garnering attention in Jay-Z’s “Big Pimpin’” among others. She also launched a rap career and independently released her debut album, Glory -- although to mediocre reviews and a mere tinge of public interest.
5 - Angel

Angel is considered to be 50 Cent’s newest protege, and has already earned a massive following. She regularly appears on the pages of XXL, KING and Black Men, but most of her fans know her from appearances in videos by 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Young Jeezy, and Lloyd Banks. Angel was born in Ethiopia, but raised in Washington, D.C., where she was discovered.
4 - Meagan Good

Meagan Good has been around for a while as an actress and model, but never really achieved the recognition she deserved. However, her hip-hop honey career was underway after turning up in several mainstream music videos -- 50 Cent’s “21 Questions” in particular. She also had a short and stormy relationship with Jamie Foxx, which he continues to deny ever happened.
3 - Melyssa Ford

Melyssa Ford has appeared in countless music videos and set the standard for young aspiring actresses/dancers who want to break into the industry. The Toronto-born hip-hop honey is often referred to as Jessica Rabbit for her cartoon-like proportions. West Coast rapper The Game ridiculed her and many others in his famous dis to hip-hop honeys in the song “Couldn’t Get Far”: “They don’t know Melyssa Ford drives a Honda Accord.”
2 - Jesikah Maximus

Jesikah Maximus is relatively new to the hip-hop video scene, but she has already earned a spot among the industry’s most sought-after honeys. She has been eye candy in videos by The Fixxers and Ray Lavender, and this Mexican-American bombshell is sure to be a name we’re all familiar with soon.
1 - Vida Guerra

Vida Guerra had a number of spots on Chappelle’s Show, but her major breakthrough came in 2004 when she was named FHM’s Model of the Year. After appearing in several prominent videos, including Nelly’s “Shake Ya Tailfeather,” she went on to launch her own music career and declared she’d never be in another hip-hop video unless she was doing the rapping. After nude photos of her surfaced on the internet, she gained much attention when she posed for Playboy to show people “what she really looked like naked.” Great idea.

Greatest Hits… So Far!!! is a greatest hits album by global superstarPink. The album was released on November 12, 2010, via LaFace Records. The album features three new songs, “Heartbreak Down”, “Fuckin’ Perfect” and the lead single “Raise Your Glass” which reached the Top 10 in several countries.

Since her debut in 2000, P!nk (Alecia Moore) has successfully paved her way on her own terms as a talented singer/songwriter/performer. Over the past two years, Pink has extensively performed sold-out performances throughout Europe, Australia and the U.S., winning over critics and fans. To date, the Pennsylvania native has earned the status of a global superstar, P!nk has sold over 30 million albums, over one million DVD’s, and nearly 20 million iTunes tracks worldwide.

“Raise Your Glass” was released as the album’s lead single to radio in the first week of October, and was officially released for digital download on October 7, 2010. The track is produced by Max Martin, and co-written by Pink & Shellback. According to Pink, the song is dedicated to those who “felt that were not a part of the popular crowd”. It debuted at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, giving Pink her fifth number 1 in Australia.
It became one of P!nk’s biggest hits ever, peaking at #4 in the USA, becoming her second highest charting song, along with “Get The Party Started” and “Most Girls”; both which peaked at #4 in the USA.

“Fuckin’ Perfect” debuted at #10 on the ARIA Singles Chart, being her seventeenth top 10 in Australia.

Pink is truly one of the most remarkable ladies of the music industry of recent years. Melding the fusion of Punk and Pop and bringing her absolute true all ‘tell-it-how-it-is’ style has allowed her to become something of an inspiration to millions of people across the globe! She has proved her versatility over the years, and Get The Party Started, Just Like A Pill, So What! and Who Knew have become songs which have very much defined the past decade of music.

Since it was first posted in mid-February of 2011,Rebecca Black’s self-written song and YouTube phenomenon “Friday” has received more than 34 million views and is on the iTunes top 100. Produced by Ark Music Factory, the video features 13-year-old Rebecca and her friends driving around town in an obviously fake car singing about how excited they are for the upcoming weekend.
Rebecca Black’s single “Friday” consists of meaningless lyrics such as “gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal” and “we, we, we so excited; we, we, we going to have a ball today,” making the song not only terrible, but also completely grammatically incorrect. Black also has a break in her song when the lyrics tell us “Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday. Today it is Friday, Friday. Tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards.” As if we didn’t know, Rebecca, as if we didn’t know.

One of the worst aspects of the song is Black’s awful singing voice — I mean, is this the chipmunk version? The high-pitched squeals of Rebecca’s voice put my eardrums in an agony I thought could only be brought on by car alarms and wailing infants. Her voice, which I assumed was overly auto-tuned, actually sounds exactly the same in her live acoustic version, which she performed for Good Morning America on March 18.
Watching the content of this video, which is produced surprisingly well, makes me sick to my stomach. Thirteen-year-old Rebecca Black and her friends really have no need to drive a car (even a pretend car) all over the city to “party, party, yeah!” These middle school-age girls with full faces of makeup, wearing high heels and short dresses are pictured driving around in cars with boys and out on the town — where are these girls’ parents anyway?
Nowadays it’s not even surprising to me that our culture spends spare time listening to crap like this. If I heard this on a top-40 station, I wouldn’t even be surprised. The song itself, which I honestly thought was a parody when I first heard it, has no substance — but then again, neither do most popular songs by Britney Spears or Rihanna. It is honestly sad to me we can make this horrible video one of the most played on the Internet while plenty of capable independent artists cannot get their music heard. I’m not going to pretend to be a songwriter, but I do think Black could have written lyrics that at least rhyme or don’t sound  like a preschool lesson on the days of the week.
To put the whole in thing in perspective, however, Rebecca Black is a 13-year-old girl, with no previous experience in the spotlight whatsoever besides the lead in her school’s production of Oklahoma! She also only made it big because her parents pumped a large amount of money into their daughter’s “career.” A pre-teen such as Black probably has nothing to worry about except “getting down on Friday,” and the song — although awful — may become a hit among young girls in similar situations.
Rebecca Black describes herself as an “aspiring entertainer” on her Ark Music Factory profile. Let’s all hope she remains “aspiring” for awhile.

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Hey guys welcome to the third month of the year 2011! Compared to last month March has been the polar opposite. Taking off with ‘Big Bang – Tonight’ from the beginning, this month was already looking very promising. Now without further ado here is our top 10…
10. Bella – Don’t Let Go

At the current moment it is well known that numerous girl groups have been trying to debut this month, much to the annoyance of some fans. But we have used this opportunity to scount out some new talents and one of the girls groups at the top of this list is this group. ‘Bella’ has remade the Eternal classic ‘Don’t Let Go’ into what has been one of our favourite songs of the month. The vocals are refreshing, incredible and just phonemenal. Just take a look…
9. K.Will – My Heart Beating

Biased for both IU (the main girl in the video) and Lee Joon (MBLAQ) this is one of the cutest videos we have seen. Beautiful acting from both IU and Lee Joon helps this song to be extremely addictive. With a soft melody and a catchy chorus this song is one to listen to.
8. Chi Chi – Don’t Play Around

This girl group has already caught the eyes of many kpop fans… for good reasons and bad. Already setting themselves the massive obstacle of reaching the popularity of SNSD many wonder how this will ever happen. Although we agree with the fact that this band has a lot to do to reach this tremendous goal, we feel this song is a step in the right direction. With ‘Sun’ from the amazing drama ‘Secret Garden’ starring in the MV and also an extremely  addictive chorus, this is well deserved at our no. 8 spot.
8. Girl’s Day – Twinkle Twinkle

Joined with Chi Chi at our no. 8 spot this MV is quite irritating but yet so hilarious at the same time. With Kung-fu moves used to get her guy back this MV is definately creative/ imaginative. Watching the strange dance choreography and listening to the strange music, the concept is definately… strange…but at the same time amazing! The tune is definitely enjoyable to listen and one of our favourites for the month.
7. MBLAQ – Again

MBLAQ are back with another great hit. After succeeding with two amazing consecutive songs ‘Cry’ and ‘Stay’, ‘Again’ has definitely got us hooked. No real MV has been released as it has been sang for the movie ‘The Fighter’ we only have the performance available. But then again that’s nothing to complain about. They continue to amaze us with their incredible live performance and show us exactly why Bi Rain chose this group to debut into the kpop industry.
6. ZE:A – Here I Am

A mixed reaction from us both. One of us likes it whilst the other doesn’t like it as much. With a very cute concept surrounding the MV as a whole this sure ticks all my boxes into being a successful kpop song. Each member showcase their talents in both their live performances and the MV. They have surely succeeded in making a great song.
5. Dalmatian – That Man Opposed

Dalmation is definately one our favourite new boy bands entering the kpop world. With another cute MV and catchy song this ranks 5 on our Kpop chart for March and quite rightly so. With already thousands of views on youtube, this band is one of our favourites to succeed in the near future.
4. CN Blue – Intuition

Finally the comeback we have been waiting months for has finally happened. After their huge impact with ‘I’m a Loner’ they’ve come back with another indie composed track. Alreading winning awards from the ‘M!Countdown’ music show this is a sure fire hit! Also the MV is so sexy with them acting like rebels running around graffiting their name, they sure pull off the black hair too!
3. Infinite – Nothing’s Over

Yet again another one of our rookie bands have come out with another top-notch song. With an different/ innovative idea for their MV it is yet another classic addded to a long list of great KPOP songs. A beautiful message sent across showing a man’s never-ending love for his woman. Infinite is on our list of which rookie bands will make it big!
2. Big Bang  – Tonight

Big Bang have been sweeping the kpop nation with their latest comeback! With heavy beats as their instrumental and GD and TOP’s rapping it was a decent song. But what we felt really saved this track was Taeyang’s and Seungri’s vocals. We weren’t too keen on this song at first but it soon grew on us like a rash :P Ruling over the music shows for at least most of the month there’s a reason why this is placed at our no. 2 spot
1. TVXQ/DBSK – Before You Go

We’re totally not biased for TVXQ :P With amazing vocals from the two remaining members, they certainly pulled off this R’n'B style. From smooth vocals to their beautiful storyline. The video was even more breathtaking with sexy strong charisma from the two members as they showed off their amazing fighting skills (lets not forget them in their sexy police uniforms ;) . All of these elements combined secured the spot as our No.1!

Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver, Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Magical Mystery Tour, The White Album. The list of timeless and revolutionary albums seems almost unreal. How could one band haveso many hits?
I’d probably have trouble picking out the top 10 Beatles albums lent alone songs. So acknowledging that it’s enough of a task just to pick out the top ten hits, there’s no way I can go so far as to rank them.
With that in mind, here’s my list in no particular order. (And please don’t respond with angry emails informing me which Beatles gem I left off the list. I’m aware some hits are going to be left behind in the dust of my all too cursory list.)
1.Twist and Shout
Why it made the list: This pop rock anthem has enough snap, crackle and pop to make a mummy move. Well…that might be stretching it slightly, but it’s certainly catchy.

It’s one of those immediately recognizable songs that sneak into feel good films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (think the parade scene when Ferris takes over a float and Ferris’ unsuspecting dad dances in his high-rise office.)

It puts a smile on my face after the first familiar bar, and that alone is reason enough to put it on my list.
2.A Hard Day’s Night
Why it made the list: Come on. Any song that gets an entire movie named after it deserves to make the top list.
But I have to admit, my reasoning for adding it to the list is much stranger than just an appreciation for the Beatle’s ability to cross media mediums. I laugh every time I think of this song because of an old Saturday Night Live “Celebrity Jeopardy” skit. The category is “Words that rhyme with dog.” Alex Trebek (Will Ferrell) asks his celebrity guests to finish this sentence—It’s been a hard day’s night, I should be sleeping like a…this. Sean Connery (Daryl Hammond) quickly buzzes in. Trebek looks hopeful. “Yes, Sean Connery.” “Chinese whore!” Connery seems so sure of his answer, so proud. It’s hysterical, and single-handedly earns A Hard Days’s Night a coveted spot on my list.
3.Help!
Why it made the list: Again, if it engenders a film, it probably deserves to be on the list. At least the song version of Help! wasn’t as atrocious as the film version (don’t hate me hardcore Beatles fans…)

4.Drive My Car
Why it made the list: I’ve always loved this song. My dad used to blast it while we were on family road trips. (My siblings and I cultivated a love for the Beatles this way.) So for the sake of personal nostalgia, on the list it goes.
5.Yesterday
Why it made the list: This song is just plain haunting. There are certain songs that by virtue of their sappy nature and slow rhythm become staples for weddings, graduations, christenings…you name it.

And while Yesterday is admittedly present at many of these milestones, it’s always meaningful and perpetually heartfelt. It’s not sugarcoated, and it doesn’t feel the need to apologize for that. I respect that enough to add it to my list.
6.Eleanor Rigby
Why it made the list: Granted, the line, “Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door” has always intrigued me and is just sufficiently strange enough to secure it on the list.

But the real reason is that I had to play this song in my high school orchestra. After learning a song and playing it for months, one gains a new appreciation for it.

7.I am the Walrus
Why it made the list: Some people say they don’t even listen to the lyrics of a song, and this never ceases to shock me. Lyrics can really make or break a song for me, and in the case of this song, it absolutely makes it (not that the music isn’t phenomenal as well).

This stanza was the clincher:
Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your Knickers down.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen, I am the walrus,
goo goo gajoob

Now I don’t pretend to know what that means, but I know I like it.
8.Strawberry Fields Forever
Why it made the list: Somehow this seems like such a definitive Beatles songs I just had to put it on the list. If I didn’t, it would be like having a Bob Dylan Best Of and not including The Times They Are A-Changin’. It just wouldn’t seem right.
9.Come Together
Why it made the list: The constant stops and starts of this song are what make it so classic. The rhythm of the song never lets you get comfortable, and consequently it feels innovative when you listen to it.
Not to mention the creative things they do with lyrics. I particularly like the paralleled lines “He got hair down to his knee” in the fist stanza and “He got feet down below his knee” in the third.

10.Tax Man
Why it made the list: There’s quite a bit of political angst loosely hidden behind its pop music veneer. Don’t tell me you don’t hear a smidgeon of anger in the chorus:

(if you drive a car, car;) - I’ll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;) - I’ll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;) - I’ll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet.

Great music with a message? It had to make the list.
So that’s my top ten. And believe me—this is my list, and I still had to leave off some of my personal favorites. Let the angry emails commence…

Every year offers the promise of earth-shatteringly fresh music and new faces worth keeping an eye on. 2011 is no different. While no one on this list will shift 10 billion units or become the next Jay-Z, they all make remarkable music. They all deserve to be heard. Let the show begin.

10. Big Sean

Big Sean has been patiently waiting in Kanye's wings for years now. He signed to G.O.O.D Music in 2007 but only has a bunch of guest verses and two ominously titled mixtapes to show for it. Look for Sean to expand on his Finally Famous mixtape series with the release of a similarly titled debut sometime in 2011. Pharrell, No I.D. and Yeezy are on board for his debut album.
9. Preemo

Preemo has been bubbling under the radar for most of his career. Despite dropping a stunningly impressive album, Concrete Dreams, and a brilliant mixtape, Flight 713, in 2010, he didn't get the attention he deserves. The Texas native isn't in a hurry to compromise his sound for a shot at fame. Preemo is so proud of his work he could die a content soul. And for good reason; Concrete Dreams is enjoyable from cover to cover. It’s the kind of music Kanye was making when he first broke out – dark, raw, personal. He's going to be a headache if given the opportunity.
8. L.E.P. Bogus Boys

Chicago's own L.E.P. (Lower End Professionals) Bogus Boys offers that rare blend of wild ambition, inventive videos, and creativity that's often absent in street rap. Part of what makes the duo so charming is that they continually strive to connect with the listener, even while rapping about some of the grimiest crime in South Side Chicago. Common and Lupe Fiasco may speak for the thinking man, but Count and Moonie are the voice of the streets.
7. The Niceguys

Niceguys (Yves, Candlestick, Free, and Christolph) are generous with bombastic drums but stingy with flimsy boasts. Slivers of style abound in their music, but they take a back seat to metaphor-driven rhymes, humor, and emotional depth. Their 2010 album, The Show, was a fun-filled opus that nudged them further into hip-hop consciousness. If the Houston group follows up with a strong outing in 2011, they certainly won't go unnoticed for too long.
6. Boog Brown

In a perfect world, Boog Brown would be a star. There's always an undercurrent of emotioinal nuance in her voice. One moment she's projecting a somber elegance. The next, she's singing beautifully in a calm, confident tone. Think Lauryn Hill at her most sepia-toned. Last year, Boog collaborated with Apollo Brown on the sleeper LP, Brown Study. If that album revealed one thing about Boog Brown, it's that she has a way of infusing despair with charm.
5. Kendrick Lamar

K.Dot tried. He really tried doing the safety dance and all he got was an empty soul. When that approach left him with an unsettling feeling, he changed his rap moniker and vowed to only make the music he can be proud of. Once he made that leap, Kendrick Lamar effectively placed himself on the path to greatness. His mixtapes bump harder than most albums. He raps like he's fighting a cold, but once your ear adjusts to his voice you're in for a helluva ride.
4. Cyhi da Prynce

Cyhi da Prynce was already sitting on a Def Jam deal, but one freestyle altered his musical journey. Kanye West caught a whiff of the Atlanta MC's remix of Yelawolf's "I Wish" and immediately went looking for him. Ye and Cyhi later flew to Hawaii to rub minds and vibe in the studio. Three weeks later, Cyhi da Prynce entered into a partnership with one of rap's biggest royalties. The 26-year old lyricist spent much of 2010 killing freestyles and wrecking guest features. He's a classic example of seizing every opportunity to shine. Look for his GOOD Music debut in 2011.
3. Big K.R.I.T.

Close your eyes and pretend it’s 1996. UGK's Ridin' Dirty is oozing from every Cadillac in Houston. J Dilla and Outkast are dominating the airwave in Detroit and Atlanta. Now fast forward to 2010. Throw the three aforementioned acts in a blender and sprinkle a hint of 8Ball & MJG. Open your eyes. Welcome to the world of Big K.R.I.T. The Mississippi MC is the complete package. I'll be surprised if he doesn't have a big year in 2011.
2. OFWGKTA

OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) isn't for everyone. While most new artists succeed on the strength of universality, this L.A. posse succeeds by annoying the hell out of people who want nothing to do with their odious rhymes about coke, rape and swastikas. Their 19-year old leader is the mastermind behind one of 2010's best rap songs, "Bastard." No bright stars here. Instead, Odd Future seek to express a shared universal pain. The wealth of their substance and the depth of their roster make them a force to reckon with in 2011.
1. Danny Brown

Danny Brown has a way of making the familiar sound original, whether griping about his state of penury or telling female friends to squeegee his third eye. He's also a heartbroken rapper. Where Nas once saw hope in the face of poverty and told us that "the buck that bought the bottle could've struck the lotto," Brown is scared he won't ever find an answer to the ugliness he sees in the world. "F-ck the lotto," Brown barks, "the buck's on the bottle."
